Man Arrested for Ritual Attempt at Katsina Hospital

On May 9, 2026, the Katsina State Police Command arrested a 50-year-old man named Sagir Muntari for allegedly attempting to engage in witchcraft-related activities at General Hospital Funtua. The arrest followed reports of suspicious movements within the hospital premises.

The Chief Security Officer of the hospital alerted the police at approximately 4:20 PM after a staff member noticed an unidentified person wandering suspiciously. The police, under the leadership of CP Ali Umar Fage, responded promptly and successfully apprehended Muntari.

During interrogation, Muntari allegedly confessed that he entered the hospital with the intent to obtain the womb of a newborn baby using spiritual criminal charms. The police have stated that investigations are ongoing, and Muntari will be charged in court upon completion of the probe.

The command has warned against any form of criminal ritual-related activities and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
