Anambra Police Officer Arrested for Threatening Filmmakers

Assistant Superintendent of Police Newton Isokpehi, attached to the Anambra State Police Command, was arrested following a viral video in which he threatened to kill anyone recording him while on duty. The video, which surfaced on social media, showed Isokpehi speaking in Pidgin English, directly addressing the camera and vowing to ensure that anyone filming him would face severe consequences.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident and announced that internal disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against Isokpehi. The command's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Ezeabata, stated that Isokpehi would also undergo a drug test as part of the investigation.

The command condemned Isokpehi's conduct as incompatible with the values of the police force and assured the public that the outcome of the disciplinary process would be made public. The command emphasized the importance of professionalism and accountability among its officers, especially in light of public scrutiny.
