Police Officer Threatens Public Over Filming on Duty

Newton Isokpehi, a police officer with 26 years of service in the Nigerian Police Force, was recorded in a viral video threatening to kill anyone who films him while on duty. The video, which was shared on social media, featured Isokpehi making explicit threats against members of the public, stating, "bring camera anywhere video don’t right will clear everybody down." He further claimed that anyone who approached him with a camera would face severe consequences.

The video showcased Isokpehi in uniform and included graphic threats delivered in Pidgin English. Despite the video's removal, Isokpehi's TikTok account remains active.

Public reaction to the video was swift and condemnatory, with many describing his conduct as dangerous and unprofessional. The Inspector General of Police has begun addressing unpaid insurance benefits for officers, which may relate to the hardships Isokpehi referenced in the video regarding his experiences in the force.
