Delta Police Arrest School Driver for Kidnapping Student

Onome Ughagha, a 28-year-old school bus driver, was arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female student in Sapele. The incident was reported by the victim's father on Tuesday, who stated that Ughagha abducted his daughter while she was preparing for school and subsequently demanded a ransom of N503,000, threatening to kill her if it was not paid.
After the ransom was paid, the victim was abandoned along Oton Road in Sapele, where she was found in a traumatized state, showing signs of sexual assault. The police began investigations immediately, taking the victim to a medical facility for examination.
The school principal and vice-principal were questioned, and efforts to apprehend Ughagha intensified after he fled, abandoning the school bus. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives located and arrested him in the Ajimele area of Sapele on Friday.
During preliminary interrogation, Ughagha confessed to the crime. Arrangements are being made to transfer him to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Asaba for further investigation.
