Police Arrest Adeniyi Adeyemi Over Forgery Charges

Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force following a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The court ordered his arrest after he failed to appear for arraignment on eight counts of forgery and conspiracy to impersonate.

The arrest was executed by the Intelligence Response Team in Osun State, where Adeyemi was apprehended. He had previously denied hiding from authorities, asserting his willingness to face scrutiny.

The court, presided over by Justice Moham Umar, had issued the warrant on September 30, 2026, after the prosecution urged the court to compel Adeyemi's arrest due to his absence. The charges against him include the alleged forgery of government documents, including a purported presidential appointment letter signed by Femi Gbajabiamila.

If found guilty, Adeyemi could face a prison term of 21 years without an option of fine for forgery and a maximum of three years for impersonation.
