Delta Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Seize AK-47

On April 29, 2026, the Delta State Police Command arrested Shehu Malami, a 45-year-old suspect involved in kidnapping and armed robbery activities in the Ughelli area. The arrest was executed by a special assignment team following credible intelligence.

During the operation, police recovered an AK-47 rifle and 63 rounds of live ammunition from Malami's hideout in Agbarha Otor. Preliminary investigations revealed that Malami is part of a kidnapping syndicate terrorizing the Ughelli, Agbarho, and Sapel areas of Delta State.

Efforts to apprehend other members of the gang are ongoing, as the police continue to combat the rising crime rates in the region.
