Delta Police Rescue Kidnapping Victims in Gun Battle

On March 16, 2026, the Delta State Police Command successfully dismantled a kidnapping syndicate in Issel Uku Forest, rescuing three victims unharmed. The operation was initiated following reports of kidnappings received by the Issel Uku Police Division.

Under the leadership of CSP Aderemi Badiru, the police collaborated with military and local vigilante groups to launch a coordinated search and rescue operation. This culminated in a fierce exchange of gunfire with the suspects, resulting in the fatal wounding of one suspect, Ahmadu Hassan, aged 22, from Kang Village, Nasarawa State.

During the operation, an AK-47 rifle and four rounds of live ammunition were recovered. The police confirmed that the deceased suspect's body was deposited in a mortuary, while another suspect, injured during the exchange, is currently receiving treatment in police custody.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, commended the synergy displayed by the security outfits and urged residents to continue providing credible information to assist police efforts.
