Police Neutralize Suspected Kidnapper in Nasarawa

On Monday, during a routine patrol along the Akwanga Highway, a police team from the Nasarawa State Police Command discovered an attempted kidnapping incident near a rice mill in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area. The patrol team, led by spokesperson Ramhan Nansel, observed a highway barricade made of stones by gunmen suspected of planning to attack unsuspecting motorists.

Upon sighting the police, the gunmen opened fire, prompting a swift response from the officers. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect was overpowered and neutralized, while others fled into the surrounding bush.

The suspect was later identified as Auta Habu from the Ruga Fulani settlement in Gidan Waya. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was involved in several criminal activities in the area.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station. The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operation as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety in the state.
