Bauchi Police Arrest Phone Snatcher and Five Thugs
The Bauchi State Police Command arrested a suspected phone snatcher, Abdullahi Abubakar, and five alleged thugs in separate operations within Bauchi metropolis. SP Nafiu Habib reported that the phone snatching occurred on Monday, August 25, 2026, when a 25-year-old victim was observing a Maulud procession.
Abubakar, 20, allegedly snatched the victim's mobile phone worth N50,000 and N30,000 cash. During the incident, he handed the stolen phone to two accomplices, Al-Amin and Babale Sule, who injured the victim.
The victim was treated at Under 5 Hospital, Jahun. Following a swift response from the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Abubakar was arrested, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspects.
In a separate incident, three thugs were arrested for causing unrest in Mangororin Sale Toro, and two more were apprehended during a fight in Jaja. A total of five suspects are in detention, and investigations are ongoing.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu commended the operatives for their professionalism.
