Two Arrested for Murder of 33-Year-Old Woman in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command arrested two suspects, Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara (26 years old) and Makuochukwu Uzoigw (20 years old), in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old woman. The incident originated on March 13, 2026, when the victim's mother reported her missing at the Oraifit Division Police Headquarters.

On March 14, 2026, the lifeless body of an unidentified female was discovered in a culvert near Jesu Bu Stop in Oraifit. The victim was later identified as the missing woman by her father.

Following a comprehensive investigation led by the state Criminal Investigation Department in Awka, the suspects were apprehended on June 6, 2026. During interrogation, Ikwugwara confessed to the murder, citing a three-year relationship with the victim and a dispute with her husband as motives.

The suspects lured the victim under the pretense of seeking help, attacked her with a machete, and disposed of her body in the culvert. They will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
