Two Arrested for Murder of 33-Year-Old Woman in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command arrested two suspects, Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara, 26, and Makuochukwu Uzoigw, 20, in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old woman. The investigation began on March 13, 2026, when the victim's mother reported her missing at the Oraifit Division Police Headquarters.

The following day, the lifeless body of an unidentified woman was found in a culvert near Jesu Bu Stop in Oraifit. The victim's father later identified the body as that of his missing daughter.

The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a comprehensive investigation. Using intelligence and digital forensics, the police arrested the suspects on June 6, 2026.

During interrogation, Ikwugwara confessed to planning the murder, claiming a three-year relationship with the victim, unaware that she was married. He alleged that disagreements with the victim's husband led to the attack.

The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
