Two Arrested Over Corps Member's Killing in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has arrested two suspects related to the killing of a National Youth Service Corps member, identified as Ben Agir, who was allegedly killed by a mob last Sunday night. The incident occurred around 11 PM in a major settlement near the Buruku Local Government Secretariat.

The mob attack was reportedly triggered by accusations of motorcycle theft against the deceased. Raymond Aondoakura, the chairman of Buruku Local Government Area, confirmed the attack and announced the suspension of the local vigilante group pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police spokesperson DSP Edet Udem stated that preliminary findings indicated the deceased had falsified documents related to the motorcycle, which was claimed to be stolen. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime, while a third suspect remains at large.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, and the police assured the public of a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
