Two Arrested for Child Trafficking in Adamawa State

On February 17, 2026, the Adamawa State Police Command arrested two women, Hasiyah Yuguda, 35, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, for child trafficking after rescuing three teenage girls at the Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola. The girls, identified as Naomi Linu (14), Thoma (16), and Patience Justin (15), were reportedly lured with false promises of employment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the minors were deceitfully brought to Yola with the intention of transporting them to Abuja under the pretext of securing domestic work. Police spokesman Suleiman Nguroj stated that the suspects are currently assisting in ongoing investigations, which may implicate Simon Bonifac, 38, from Zing Local Government Area in Taraba State.

The police are also working to trace the families of the rescued girls and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities involving minors. Morri Dankwambo, the police commissioner, reiterated the command's commitment to combating child trafficking and abuse.
