Two Women Arrested for Child Trafficking in Adamawa

On February 17, 2026, the Adamawa State Police Command apprehended two women, Hasiya Yuguda (35) from NEPA area, Jimeta, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar (40) from Wuro Hausa, Yola South, for their involvement in child trafficking. The police successfully rescued three teenage girls identified as Naomi Linu (14), Thoma (16), and Patience Justin (15) at the Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park in Yola.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the girls were deceitfully brought to Yola under the pretext of securing employment for menial domestic work. The police spokesperson announced that further investigations have implicated Simon Bonifac (38) from Bitakoyali in Zing Local Government Area, Taraba State, who is currently assisting the police.

The rescued girls are now under protective custody, and the police have urged the public to report any suspicious movements involving minors. This incident follows a recent effort by the Adamawa State government to reunite trafficked children with their families and emphasizes the need for parental caution regarding unsupervised travel for minors.
