Kwara Police Launch Crackdown on Fake Number Plates

The Kwara State Police Command has initiated a crackdown on vehicles displaying fake, obscured, altered, or unauthorized number plates, with enforcement operations set to commence on June 15, 2026. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen security and reduce criminal activities across the state.

The operation follows directives from the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and aims to prevent criminal elements from concealing their identities while using improperly registered vehicles. The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has instructed all area commands and traffic divisions to ensure compliance with this directive.

Vehicles found in violation will be impounded and subjected to thorough investigations according to established laws. The police emphasized that there will be no preferential treatment for individuals or organizations that contravene this directive, urging all vehicle owners to display valid and clearly visible registration plates.
