Lagos Police Enforces Number Plate Compliance for Safety

The Lagos State Police Command, represented by Police Spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi, announced the commencement of enforcement actions against vehicles lacking number plates. This initiative, directed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu, aims to strengthen security measures and prevent criminal activities by ensuring that vehicles can be identified.

The enforcement will be led by CP Tijani Fatai, who has instructed area command divisions and police officers across the state to ensure strict compliance with this directive. Vehicles found in violation will be impounded and subjected to thorough investigations in accordance with existing laws.

The command emphasized that this exercise is not intended to inconvenience law-abiding motorists but is a proactive measure designed to enhance public safety and support crime prevention efforts. Motorists and fleet owners are advised to ensure their vehicles display valid and visible registration number plates and to keep relevant vehicle documents up to date for inspection when required.
