Sokoto Police Launch Crackdown on Unregistered Vehicles

The Sokoto State Police Command has announced a plan to initiate a statewide crackdown on vehicles operating without registered number plates. This decision follows directives from the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and aims to strengthen security enforcement and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

The enforcement exercise is designed to improve public safety and enhance intelligence-led policing to prevent the use of unidentified vehicles in criminal activities. The statement was issued on Friday by the police public relations officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa.

Commissioner of Police Hayatu Hassan Shaffa reaffirmed the command's commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasizing that the exercise is intended to enhance security rather than inconvenience law-abiding residents. Vehicle owners are urged to ensure their vehicles are properly registered and display approved number plates, with warnings issued against covering, altering, or defacing plates.

The command assured residents that the enforcement exercise would be conducted professionally and transparently in accordance with the law.
