Police Act to Calm Tensions After Traders' Killings in Jos

Following the killing of five traders in Mangu, tensions escalated in Jos, Plateau State. The Plateau State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Bassei Ewah, swiftly engaged stakeholders to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

The police appealed for calm and assured traders of their commitment to justice. Initially, there were plans to shut down markets across the state in protest, but police leadership decided to suspend this action to stabilize the environment.

CP Ewah expressed condolences to the victims' families and emphasized the need to track down and prosecute the perpetrators. Additionally, police personnel were deployed to vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks.

The police also arrested 20-year-old Abdulkabiru Abdullahi for allegedly attempting to incite religious violence in the Dilimi area. Community leaders praised the restraint shown by residents and the police's proactive measures to maintain peace.
