Five Charged with Murder in Ebonyi State Incident

The Ebonyi State Police Command has charged five suspects with murder, including Oforbuik Okoro, who allegedly stabbed his mother to death after she refused to assist him in acquiring wealth. This incident is part of a concerning rise in violent crime in the state, as highlighted by Police Commissioner Hope Urunwa Okafor.

The police's preliminary investigation revealed that the act was committed following the mother's refusal to place a belief in acquiring wealth. In addition to Okoro, four other suspects—Onyebuchi Ez, Ez Nwuke Oko, Odinaka Emmanuel, and Uchenna Ota—are also facing charges related to separate murder cases.

Commissioner Okafor has called on residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to report grievances to the nearest police station, emphasizing that murder is a capital offense and a grave crime against humanity. He reassured the public of the police's commitment to addressing complaints promptly.
