Nigerian Police Ban PoS Operators Over Corruption Concerns

The Nigerian Police Command has officially banned Point of Sale (PoS) operators from operating within its premises, citing concerns that such activities encourage corrupt practices and compromise the professional conduct of officers. This decision was announced by Assistant Inspector General of Police Simeon Akpanudom during a strategic meeting held at the command headquarters in Lagos on Thursday.

The ban is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen discipline and accountability within the police force, aligning with the reform agenda promoted by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu. Akpanudom emphasized that allowing transactions around investigative offices could lead to unethical conduct that undermines public confidence in the police.

He urged officers to maintain professionalism and avoid actions that could create suspicion. Furthermore, he warned that personnel found engaging in unprofessional conduct would face necessary disciplinary measures.
