Police Allegations in Niger State Murder Case Uncovered

Hon. Danjuma Moham, a community leader from Mokwa Local Government Area in Niger State, has alleged that senior police officers compromised the investigation into the killings of two farmers, Moham Kudu (42) and Manko Ibrahim (41), during a land dispute in the Ketso community.

In a formal petition to the Niger State Police Command, Moham accused the officers of deliberately weakening the murder case by allowing the prime suspect, Abubakar Abubakar Ladan, to regain freedom just before the Sallah celebrations. The petition claims that police officers knew that the court was unlikely to grant bail for capital offenses, yet they downgraded the charges to lesser offenses, enabling a magistrate court to assume jurisdiction and grant bail.

The allegations also involve the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Provost Marshal of the Nigeria Police, suggesting a broader issue of corruption within the police force.
