Police Condemn Abuse of Seven-Year-Old in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has condemned the alleged brutal abuse of seven-year-old Oluebube Ofoma in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area. The police confirmed the arrest of her mother, Mrs. Ogechi Ofoma, aged 32, following a report received on the evening of September 13, 2026.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the child suffered severe physical abuse, including injuries inflicted with a hot knife. The prompt intervention of security personnel from the Ibollo Community, Awada-Obosi, and concerned residents led to the child's rescue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, is collaborating with the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare to ensure that Oluebube receives urgent medical care and necessary welfare support. The Anambra State Police Command has assured the public of a thorough investigation and emphasized that the welfare and safety of the child are paramount, committing to work with relevant agencies to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure accountability.
