Kwara Police Deny Arrest of Boko Haram Suspects in Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command issued a statement on Wednesday, categorically debunking claims circulating on social media regarding the arrest of Boko Haram suspects in Ilorin. The police described these claims as false and misleading, stating that they could generate unnecessary panic among residents.

The spokesperson for the command, Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, confirmed that no Boko Haram members were arrested anywhere in Kwara State. The police explained that their operations involved intercepting a truck carrying Fulani travelers as part of routine intelligence-led surveillance on May 27, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

No incriminating items or security threats were discovered during this operation. Additionally, the police announced the arrest of three suspects linked to armed robbery and vandalism along Asa Dam Dangot Road in Ilorin, following credible intelligence about criminal activities in the area.

The suspects were found with two locally made pistols and various hard drugs, believed to be involved in a wider criminal network.
