Kwara Police Deny Boko Haram Arrest Claims in Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command issued a statement denying claims circulating on social media regarding the arrest of a Boko Haram suspect in Ilorin. Police spokesperson Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi clarified that there had been no arrests of Boko Haram members anywhere in Kwara State.

The command aimed to debunk the misleading information that suggested operations had led to the arrest of Boko Haram suspects within the Ilorin metropolis. The police explained that officers from the Violent Crime Response Unit had stopped a truck carrying Fulani travelers during a security patrol on Tuesday night, but after a thorough search, no incriminating items or security threats were discovered.

Additionally, the police reported the arrest of three suspects linked to armed robbery and vandalism activities around the Asa Dam and Dangote Road area in Ilorin, which involved the destruction of government solar light installations. Adekimi Ojo, a police officer, praised the intelligence-led operations and assured residents of ongoing efforts to tackle crime across the state.
