Kwara Police Dismiss Bandit Invasion Reports in Ok Oyi

The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports of a bandit invasion in the Ok Oyi area of Ilorin East Local Government. The alarm, which emerged around 9:15 AM, was triggered by a woman who reportedly rushed to a secondary school claiming that bandits had invaded the area.

This unverified claim caused panic among residents and temporarily disrupted academic activities at the school. Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, the police spokesperson, stated that upon receiving the information, the division police office promptly mobilized personnel to assess the situation and ensure the safety of students and staff.

Investigations revealed that the alarm was unfounded, with no evidence of an attack or security breach. Ojo Adekimi, the police commissioner, condemned the dissemination of false security alerts, emphasizing that such actions create unnecessary fear and divert security resources from genuine threats.

The command is taking steps to identify the source of the false alarm and will take legal action against those responsible.
