Ogun Police Dismiss Viral Video of Bandits in Forests

The Ogun State Police Command has officially debunked a viral video that alleged the presence of bandits operating within the state's forests. In a statement issued by the police's public relations officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the footage was described as false and misleading.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the video was recorded in Kenya during operations against cattle rustlers and was first uploaded online in 2022. The police condemned the recirculation of the video, which they stated was intended to create unnecessary panic and misinformation among the public.

Bode O jajuni, the state commissioner of police, emphasized that there are no credible intelligence reports supporting claims of criminal activity in Ogun State's forests. The police urged the public to disregard the video and avoid sharing unverified information that could incite fear and disrupt public peace, warning that the spread of false information will not be tolerated.
