Ogun Police Debunk Viral Video of Armed Bandits

The Ogun State Police Command has officially refuted a viral video that alleged the presence of armed bandits in the forests of Ogun State. In a statement released by the command's spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, it was clarified that the video does not originate from Ogun State and is based on misleading and recycled footage.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the footage actually depicts individuals cooking in a bush setting in Kenya, linked to operations involving cattle rustlers captured by the General Service Unit (GSU) drone. The video was first uploaded online in 2022 and has been deliberately recirculated to create panic and misinformation regarding the security situation in Ogun State.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode O jajuni, condemned the spread of such unverifiable content, emphasizing that it could incite unnecessary fear and undermine public confidence in security agencies. He reassured residents of the police's commitment to safety and urged them to rely on official communication channels for credible security updates.
