Gombe Police Dismiss Viral Video of Youths Mobilizing

The Gombe State Police Command has officially debunked a viral video circulating on social media that claimed local youths were mobilizing to fight insurgents. Abdullahi Buhari, the police public relations officer, stated that the video, which features gunshots, was misinterpreted by users.

He explained that the footage was recorded during a traditional celebration in honor of the Emir of Gombe, coinciding with the Sallah festivities. The gunfire depicted in the video was from local hunters celebrating the Islamic holiday, either Eid el-Kabir or Eid el-Fitr.

Buhari urged the public to verify information before sharing to avoid unnecessary panic and confusion. He emphasized the police command's commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state and cautioned against the spread of unverifiable information.
