Rivers Police Dissolves Tactical Teams for Efficiency

The Rivers State Police Command has officially dissolved its tactical teams to improve operational efficiency and professionalism within the force. This decision was disclosed by ASP Bless Agab during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

The dissolution follows directives from Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu and is part of a broader strategy to create a new unit known as the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU). The VCRU is mandated to respond swiftly and decisively to incidents of violent crime while adhering to established rules and respecting fundamental human rights.

Agab emphasized that the restructuring aims to enhance operational coordination and build public trust in the police across the state. Additionally, CP Olugbenga Adepoju cautioned officers against extortion and abuse of office, stating that any misconduct violating the Nigeria Police Force Code of Conduct will lead to disciplinary action.

Adepoju reassured residents of the command's commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to report any suspicious activities or misconduct.
