Gunfire in Edo State Injures Police and Residents

In Edo State, a violent incident occurred on Saturday during a community celebration in the Ovia North East Local Government Area, resulting in injuries to several police officers and community members. The Edo Police Command, led by Eno Ikoedem, reported that officers were injured by gunfire when they attempted to investigate a clash in the area.

Community members from Ogueson accused the police of failing to listen to their concerns during a town hall meeting. In response, the police stated that youth from Ogueson opened fire on their team, leading to the arrest of seven individuals and the recovery of firearms.

The community leaders from Iguoshodin denied any attack on the police, asserting that the police had issues with the youth. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between law enforcement and local communities in the region.
