Police Foil Bandit Attack, Recover 43 Stolen Sheep in Sokoto

Operatives of the Sokoto State Police Command successfully foiled a bandit attack on Anada Village in Binji Local Government Area on Thursday at approximately 9:00 pm. Armed bandits invaded the village, firing sporadically and rustling 43 sheep belonging to local residents.

Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer in Binji mobilized a tactical team, including personnel from the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and the Viable Crime Response Unit, to pursue the fleeing suspects. The police engaged the bandits in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the rustled sheep and escape into nearby forests.

All 43 sheep were recovered intact, with no casualties or injuries reported among security personnel or community members. The Sokoto State Police Command is conducting a coordinated manhunt for the suspects to prevent further attacks.

Commissioner of Police Hayatu Hassan Shaffa commended the officers for their swift response and reiterated the command's commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the state.
