Police Recover 43 Rustled Sheep in Sokoto Bandit Attack

On Thursday at approximately 9:00 p.m., armed bandits attacked a remote community in Sokoto, stealing 43 sheep. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Binji, upon receiving the report, quickly mobilized tactical operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and the Viable Crimes Response Unit (VCRU).

They blocked all exit routes from the village and engaged the bandits in a gun duel, which forced the assailants to abandon the rustled sheep and flee into a nearby forest. All 43 sheep were successfully recovered, and there were no reported casualties or injuries among security personnel or community members.

DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, the command’s spokesman, stated that security operatives would continue patrols and surveillance in the area to track down the fleeing suspects. The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto, Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, praised the Binji DPO and his team for their prompt and professional response, urging residents to provide credible information to assist in combating criminal activities.
