Police Neutralize Bandits, Recover Stolen Motorcycles in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has intensified its operations against banditry, kidnapping, and motorcycle theft, resulting in significant successes. On August 15, two suspected bandits were neutralized during an attempted attack on Ndankaradu village.

CP Hayatullah Shaffa reported that operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams engaged the bandits in a gun duel, leading to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and 54 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, three suspects linked to a motorcycle theft syndicate were arrested, with five stolen motorcycles and a fabricated pistol recovered from their premises.

Ongoing investigations revealed a network involved in forging documents for stolen motorcycles, with 12 motorcycles recovered in connection to this syndicate. Furthermore, two suspects, Hamza and Yasser, were arrested following community complaints about motorcycle theft and extortion.

The police also apprehended a suspected bandit, Abdullah Habuba, alias Osho, on August 8, who allegedly confessed to being part of a kidnapping syndicate.
