Police Thwart Bandit Attack on Worshippers in Zamfara

On the evening of the incident, which occurred at 8 PM, a large group of armed bandits reportedly advanced towards the community of Maru, targeting residents during the Isha congregational prayer. The Zamfara State Police Command, under the direction of DSP Yazid Abubakar, received credible intelligence about the impending attack and swiftly mobilized a division strike force in collaboration with military personnel to the area.

Upon sighting the joint security team, the bandits opened fire, leading to a gun duel. However, the security operatives, utilizing superior firepower and coordinated tactics, overpowered the attackers, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding bush.

During the confrontation, some suspects sustained gunshot injuries. DSP Yazid Abubakar assured residents of intensified patrols and surveillance in the district to prevent further threats and urged the public to remain calm and vigilant, cooperating with security agencies.

The command reiterated its commitment to sustained offensive operations against banditry to maintain public safety in Zamfara State.
