DCP Anthony Placid Appointed New Police Spokesperson

The Nigeria Police Force has appointed DCP Anthony Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), effective March 5, 2026. This appointment comes amid recent media speculation about the alleged removal of former spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, which had circulated widely online without official confirmation.

DCP Placid, born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Uyo and a Master of Arts degree in Law and Diplomacy from the National Open University of Nigeria. He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1996 and was commissioned in August 1998.

Throughout his career, he has held various strategic positions, including Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State and roles within international peacekeeping missions. DCP Placid is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and has participated in numerous professional training programs.
