Son Allegedly Burns Father Alive in Jigawa State

On April 1, 2026, a tragic incident occurred in Kazaur Town, Jigawa State, where 27-year-old Kabiru Nuhu allegedly set his father ablaze by pouring a flammable substance believed to be petrol on him. The Jigawa State Police Command, led by spokesperson Shiisu Lawan Adam, reported that they received a distress call at 6:30 AM regarding the incident. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Preliminary findings indicated that the attack took place approximately 30 minutes before the distress call was made. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, who was found with fresh burn injuries on his forehead, arm, and toe, raising suspicions of his involvement. The victim later succumbed to his injuries after being referred to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment. The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution. Police Commissioner Haruna Alaba Yahaya condemned the act, describing it as heinous and unacceptable, and urged the public to embrace peace and report cases of domestic violence.
