Mob Kills Man by Burning Over Motorcycle Theft in Ogun

On Friday, March 20, 2026, a man was brutally killed by a mob in Magbon Village, located in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, over allegations of motorcycle theft. Eyewitnesses reported that around 1:30 PM, a group of five men chased the victim, who was knocked down near a bush.

After being beaten with sticks and sustaining deep cuts to his forehead, the victim was doused in petrol and set ablaze while already incapacitated. The mob accused him of stealing a motorcycle from a local known as Okada Ola Imam, who had stopped along Igbo Olomu Road.

Three suspects were apprehended by the Ogijo Police Division following the incident. The victim was still alive when police arrived and was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Rasaq, a community member, expressed the need for thorough investigations and prosecution of the suspects, while Oluseyi Babaseyi, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the arrests and the transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department for further inquiry.
