Man Arrested for Allegedly Burning Father to Death

On April 1, 2026, at approximately 6:30 AM in Magama Quarter, Kazaur, Jigawa State, a 27-year-old man named Kabiru Nuhu allegedly set his 60-year-old father ablaze using a flammable substance, suspected to be petrol. Preliminary investigations revealed that Kabiru poured the substance on his father before igniting it.

The victim suffered severe burn injuries, including wounds to his forehead, arm, and toe, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the Jigawa State Police, led by spokesperson Haruna Yahaya, confirmed the suspect's arrest and stated that he would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
