Police Pursue Suspect in Church Murder of Wife in Imo

The Imo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of murdering his wife inside a church located in Owaelu, Owerri North Local Government Area. The incident was reported on Monday morning when neighbors alerted authorities after hearing cries from an infant.

Upon investigation, police discovered the lifeless body of the woman and found two children, including a baby, abandoned nearby. The suspect reportedly fled the scene, leaving the children behind.

Police spokesperson DSP Henri Okoy confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect and rescue the children, who are now in the care of trusted family members. The police have urged the public to provide credible information regarding the suspect's whereabouts and can be contacted at the Owerri North Division Police Headquarters or through the command's emergency line at 0803 477 3600.

The investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear whether the suspect has any affiliation with the church where the incident occurred.
