Police Seize Five Air Peace Vehicles Over Runway Blockade

The Nigeria Police have impounded five vehicles belonging to Air Peace for investigation related to a recent runway blockade at Lagos Airport. Initially, three vehicles were reported impounded, but this number has increased to five, with the vehicles marked AJJ 589EX, KTU 440EZ, AAA 831F, KTU 85FH, and EPE 656HF now in police custody.

The blockade was allegedly caused by individuals suspected to be Air Peace staff who positioned the vehicles on the airside, disrupting aircraft movement. Muhammed Adeola, spokesperson for the Airport Command of the Nigeria Police, confirmed the impoundment and stated that the police have requested Air Peace to provide the drivers responsible for the incident.

Air Peace has suggested that impostors may have driven the vehicles and has promised to conduct an internal investigation. The vehicles will remain in police custody until the airline provides the necessary information.

This incident coincides with an industrial action by aviation unions against Air Peace for allegedly failing to remit the five percent Ticket Sales Charge to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.
