Oyo Police Kill Robbery Suspect, Rescue Abducted Farmer

The Oyo State Police Command reported a significant breakthrough in combating violent crime by killing a robbery suspect and rescuing an abducted farmer in the Irawo area of Iseyin. The incident occurred around 2 PM along Saki Road, following credible intelligence about an impending robbery attack.

The police deployed to the scene discovered five armed men who had invaded a residence. A gun duel ensued, resulting in the death of one suspect and the arrest of two others, while two additional gang members managed to escape.

The police recovered several items from the suspects, including a locally made cut-to-size gun, spent cartridges, live cartridges, five mobile phones, two power banks, and cash. The police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that the suspects were linked to previous robbery incidents in the area, with investigations intensifying to determine their involvement in robbery operations both within and outside the area.

The case has been transferred to the command's monitoring unit for further investigation.
