Police Kill Suspected Kidnapper in Edo State Operation

The Edo State Police Command reported the killing of a suspected kidnapper and the arrest of an accomplice during an operation responding to a kidnapping incident that occurred on June 14, 2026, at a vegetable market in Benin City. The police acted on credible intelligence, leading to the successful arrest of 32-year-old Marvel Issac, identified as a member of the kidnapping syndicate.

During the operation, a gun duel ensued, resulting in the death of the suspect, Precious, and the recovery of a Lexus RX 350 vehicle, a pump-action shotgun, and two live cartridges. The police also recovered a motorcycle believed to be used in the crime, with an estimated N2.25 million linked to the kidnapping.

Governor Okpebholo praised the police for their swift response and reiterated the administration's commitment to combating kidnapping and cult-related crimes, announcing plans to establish a special court for speedy trials of such cases.
