Edo Police Arrest 77 Suspects, Rescue 38 Kidnap Victims

The Edo State Police Command, led by Commissioner Mondai Agbonika, announced the arrest of 77 suspects involved in various criminal offenses across the state in June 2026. Among the arrested were 32 individuals alleged to be kidnappers, 15 suspected cultists, three armed robbery suspects, 11 murder suspects, two individuals for unlawful possession of firearms, and 14 linked to rape and sexual gender-based violence, including defilement.

The Commissioner disclosed these achievements during a monthly media briefing, emphasizing the command's commitment to protecting lives and property while promoting accountability and transparency. The police intensified intelligence-led operations targeting kidnapping syndicates, cult groups, and armed robbers, strengthening collaboration with security agencies and community stakeholders.

Additionally, 38 kidnap victims were successfully rescued through coordinated tactical responses across different parts of the state.
