Ogun Police Kill Two Kidnappers, Arrest Others in Ijebu

The Ogun State Police Command reported the killing of two suspected kidnappers and the arrest of others during an operation in the Atan area of Ijebu. The operation was conducted by the Anti-Kidnap Unit following intelligence regarding the abduction of three individuals in the Ipojo area of Iperin.

The victims were kidnapped on Monday and released unharmed on Thursday after an unspecified ransom was paid. Police intensified efforts to apprehend gang members responsible for the abduction.

On Friday, police operatives stormed the kidnappers' hideout along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan road, leading to a gunfight where two suspects were killed, while others escaped into the forest. The police recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and N1.5 million believed to be ransom money.

The Ogun State Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the operation's success and stated that investigations are ongoing to unravel the gang's network.
