Soldier Killed, Another Injured in Ogun Kidnapping Attempt

On Monday, suspected kidnappers killed a soldier and injured another during an attempted kidnapping in the Magbon area of Ogun State. The incident occurred early in the morning when gunmen attempted to abduct a man, prompting intervention from military personnel.

A video circulated showing a vehicle with soaked blood and four individuals inside. Jimoh Owolabi, chairman of the Ajumoni Community Development Council, stated that the attack was not related to banditry, contrary to social media speculation.

Major Idereghi Samuel, spokesperson for the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, confirmed the incident but stated that an official statement would follow. The Ogun State Police Command's public relations officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, also confirmed the soldier's death and clarified that the incident was not connected to banditry.

Investigations are ongoing, and security operations have been intensified in the area to apprehend those responsible.
