Police and Military Recover Cattle and Weapons in Zamfara

On June 20, 2026, at 2:30 AM, the Zamfara State Police Command, through its Violent Crime Response Unit in collaboration with military personnel, conducted a tactical operation in Gambanda Forest, Gumi Local Government Area. During this operation, the joint security team engaged armed bandits in a fierce gun duel, utilizing superior firepower to repel the attackers.

As a result of the operation, the security forces successfully recovered 329 rustled cattle, 175 sheep, an AK-47 rifle, and 15 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. DSP Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, disclosed these details in a statement made available to journalists.

CP Ahmad Bello, the Commissioner of Police, commended the courage and resilience displayed by the operatives and reaffirmed the command's commitment to ending banditry and restoring peace across Zamfara State. He urged the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible information.
