Zamfara Police Recover Cattle and Weapons from Bandits

In the early hours of Saturday, a police operation in Gambanda Forest, Zamfara State, targeted bandits' hideouts, resulting in the recovery of 329 rustled cattle, 175 sheep, one AK-47 rifle, and fifteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. The operation was coordinated by the Zamfara State Police Command's Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in collaboration with military personnel.

During the operation, the security team engaged heavily armed bandits in a fierce gun duel, which led to the bandits abandoning their mission and fleeing deeper into the forest. DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed that some suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.

Ahmad Muhammad Bello, the Commissioner of Police, commended the courage and professionalism displayed by the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command's determination to intensify efforts against criminal activities to restore peace in the state. The police also appealed to residents for continued support and credible information to assist in eliminating criminal elements in the community.
