Police Intercept 14-Year-Old Stowaway at Lagos Airport

On a Monday, police at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos apprehended a 14-year-old boy identified as Ek Miracl, who attempted to stowaway on a Bell aircraft. The airport police command reported that the minor unlawfully accessed a restricted area of the airport, constituting a serious breach of aviation security protocols.

Preliminary findings indicated that the juvenile entered the restricted area without authorization, violating Section 2 and 3 of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) bylaws. Ogunbod Olufunk, the command's spokesperson, explained that upon interception, the minor was taken into protective custody, and necessary child protection procedures were initiated, including notifying his parents.

The command emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the nation's aviation infrastructure and adhering strictly to security regulations. Parents and guardians were urged to exercise greater vigilance regarding their children's movements in high-risk environments like airports.
