Police Arrest 18 Suspects, Recover N400m Rail Materials

The Nigerian Police Force, through its special tactical squad, arrested 18 suspects linked to various crimes, including the vandalism of railway tracks valued at N400 million. The arrests occurred in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, where two suspects, Chisom Goodnew (32) and Ahm Adamu (22), were apprehended for allegedly transporting the vandalized railway materials concealed in sacks of groundnut shells.

The police spokesperson, DCP Anthony Placid, addressed journalists at the force's headquarters in Abuja, detailing the operations that led to these arrests. Additionally, the police recovered 10 stolen vehicles, including a Toyota Hilux truck and a Toyota Corolla, during separate operations in Kaduna State.

Notably, on March 16, three suspects linked to armed robbery were arrested, and four AK-47 rifles were recovered during a raid in Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The operations were intelligence-led and aimed at addressing high-profile cases across various states.
