Police Arrest Two Suspected Arms Suppliers in A’Ibom

On May 8, 2026, at 4:25 PM, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested two suspected arms suppliers, Udem Udo (52) and Nkereuwem Udo (40), in Ikot Ekpen Local Government Area. The arrests followed credible intelligence and were part of a sustained offensive against criminal elements in the region.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a criminal network allegedly involved in supplying arms and ammunition to criminal operations within Ikot Ekpen and its surroundings. During a thorough search, local-made revolver pistols were recovered from the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Moham Azar, reaffirmed the command's commitment to dismantling criminal networks and warned individuals involved in unlawful acts to desist or face the full wrath of the law. The police will continue to conduct intelligence-driven operations and surveillance across identified criminal hotspots in the state.
